The project took place in one of my previous experiences, a Construction Management Platform in 🇧🇷 Brazil (A Civil Engineering Startup). In this platform, clients can efficiently manage data and track the progress of their construction projects in an intuitive and innovative way, greatly enhancing the day-to-day operations of the Construction Planning team.
Since the inception of the platform, with each new feature introduced, the product grew in complexity. This was particularly evident in the input of project data, where one of the key pieces of information eventually received an update that allowed for the inclusion of data at a more granular level within the hierarchy.
Enabling customers to delve into such detailed project planning was fantastic. However, the overall project visualization format (Line of Balance) struggled to provide as much clarity when dealing with such granularity. Moreover, it only displayed data for Work Packages and was originally designed for a long-term view (from 1/3 months up to the entire project).
Therefore, we believed that we needed a new visualization format suitable for the short term (1/2 weeks), especially since the Services (new feature) indicated this tracking range for project planning.
**Do we really need a new visualization format?
If yes, which one would best serve our customers and the market?**
It was no longer a surprise that the entire Civil Engineering Construction Planning sector manages its projects on a short-term basis (7 to 14 days). Therefore, the initial validation was divided into External and Internal assessments.
